A man arrested after a knife attack at Leytonstone Tube station in East London has appeared in court charged with attempted murder. Muhaydin Mire, 29, arrived at Westminster Magistrates' Court in the back of a police van on 7 December.

Mire, of Sansom Road, Leytonstone, appeared in the dock charged with attempting to kill a 56-year-old man on the evening of 5 December by allegedly slashing his throat. A short hearing saw him speak only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 11 December.

Mire was tasered by police officers after two men were left injured at Leytonstone Tube station. The 56-year-old man, who the court said had requested anonymity, was left with a 12cm stab wound on his neck that required five hours of surgery.
