Taking a leaf out of Samsung and HTC's strategic move, LG has embraced Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade for the new range of its smartphones.

Since the public expectations have been so overwhelming with the debut of Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for smartphones, it is no surprise that leading smartphone manufacturers are capitalizing on the demand.

LG's official Facebook page reveals the list of smartphones that are expected to adopt Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade during the second and third quarters of 2012. Besides, a global roll out enlisting other smartphones is also on the cards after the initial release.

The smartphones enlisted to get the new OS upgrade in the second quarter (April-June) of 2012 include Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse.

The third quarter (July-Sept.) of 2012 will include Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for the following smartphones: LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus Big, LG Optimus Q2 and LG Optimus EX.

Meanwhile, LG has hinted that the exact release dates might vary according to the market demands, the carrier support and the smartphone model. It could actually indicate the global release will have to wait for the initial sales and product consolidation in the market.
