Linus Tech Tips Breaks Silence on Jake Tivy Viral Resignation With Rickroll Response
Linus Tech Tips trolls an ex-employee's viral resignation video with a Rickroll and claims he has 'no f***s left.'

Is it possible to separate the art from the artist, or in this case, the tech advice from the tech mogul? For years, Linus Sebastian has portrayed himself as the friendly, clumsy face of PC building, but a recent digital skirmish suggests he is losing his mask.
The founder of Linus Tech Tips, a massive YouTube empire, is no stranger to internet drama. Yet his latest response to a serious allegation has left fans and critics divided between amusement and shock. Instead of issuing a sombre apology or a corporate statement regarding pay disparity, the YouTuber chose chaos. Linus Sebastian seems to have decided to enjoy his role as the villain in a former employee's narrative.
Jake Tivy Sparked Viral Resignation Over Stagnant Pay Claims
The catalyst for this latest storm is a video uploaded by Jake Tivy, a former staffer who felt his tenure at the company had become unsustainable. While resignation videos are a dime a dozen in the creator economy, Tivy's upload struck a nerve because it highlighted a relatable economic struggle.
According to Tivy, brand loyalty did not result in financial security. He detailed a frustrating three-year period where his salary allegedly stagnated, refusing to budge even as the cost of living in the area skyrocketed.
For the thousands watching, this incident was about more than just a staff change. It tapped into a very real resentment brewing in the creator economy: the people doing the grunt work often struggle to scrape by, while the faces on the screen pull in millions. Tivy described the exhaustion of feeling undervalued, alleging that his pleas for a raise were ignored even as inflation ate away at his earnings.
'Third House' Comment Highlights Massive Wealth Gap
What really turned this into a PR nightmare wasn't just the frozen salary—it was the stark, in-your-face contrast between Tivy's bank balance and his boss's spending.
Tivy's comment stood out due to its personal nature. He pointed out the bitter irony of worrying about his own survival while literally helping to build Sebastian's property portfolio.
'You kind of start thinking while you're working on your boss's third house, if you're ever going to be able to buy a house,' Tivy stated.
He remarked that the workplace culture he originally signed up for had morphed into something 'completely different' by the time he handed in his notice. This accusation challenges the 'friendly startup' image that many YouTuber-led businesses strive to uphold, even after transitioning into corporate entities.
Linus Tech Tips Trolls Critics With Rickroll and Defiant Tweets
Rather than addressing the valid concerns about wage stagnation, Sebastian broke his silence with high-level trolling. On February 6, he tweeted a link purported to be his side of the story, titled 'Why I Left Linus Media Group. New video on my personal channel.'
The accompanying thumbnail featured a sombre-looking Sebastian waving goodbye with the caption 'It's time.' However, users who clicked the link expecting a serious rebuttal were met with a classic 'Rickroll' video disguised as 'Cute Little Puppy Doing Cute Things.'
When fans called him out for being insensitive, Sebastian doubled down in the comments. One user asked if he was worried about the optics of mocking a respectful resignation video.
'I'm curious if you're concerned that you might not be that fun at parties,' Sebastian retorted.
The exchange culminated in a brazen admission of apathy regarding the public's perception of his wealth.
'I checked my wallet. I checked my bank account. I checked all three of my houses. There were no f***s left in any of them,' he replied to another critic.

Previous Workplace Controversy Haunts Tech Channel's Reputation
This is not the first time the company has faced scrutiny regarding its internal culture. Back in 2024, a different former employee raised concerns about what they perceived as a toxic environment within the company.
Those allegations were severe, including claims of sexual assault by other staffers, bullying, and inappropriate behaviour. The situation escalated to the point where the company had to bring in outside help.
LMG eventually hired Vancouver law firm Roper Greyell to lead an independent probe into the allegations. After reviewing the evidence, the firm deemed that the specific claims of alleged workplace bullying and sexual harassment 'were not substantiated.'
While the company was cleared legally in that instance, this new viral dispute over pay equity suggests that the internal friction at the media giant is far from over.
