Luke Shaw: I Don't Focus on Manchester United and Chelsea Rumours
Southampton star Luke Shaw has admitted the rumours linking him with a move away from St Mary's Stadium does not bother him as he remains fully focused at the club.
The 18-year-old has long been a target for Chelsea as a replacement for Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge. He has also been on Manchester United's radar as recent reports suggest that David Moyes' side are set to beat the Blues in signing £27m-rated Premier League star.
The Express claims even United's derby rivals Manchester City are also keen on signing Shaw in the summer. The left-back has been in impressive form for Southampton this season, which has seen him a call from Roy Hodgson for England national team.
Shaw admitted that he does not focus on the reports linking him with top clubs as he is keen on improving his game on the pitch.
"There is not a club I am not linked with, but I don't focus on that. My main focus is my football on the pitch and I just want to keep doing that. It doesn't really bother me the attention I get," the Express quoted Shaw as saying.
"I just stay focused on my game on the pitch. Whatever is said is said. Stuff like that is going to happen but my main priority is the games. We've still got six left, so all the focus is on that. I think in the next year or so we can be challenging the top five teams."
Meanwhile, Shaw's club teammates Adam Lallana and Jay Rodriguez are also attracting interest from the Premier League clubs. However, Southampton's new director Hans Hofstetter is adamant the club are keen on retaining their star players beyond this summer.
"The most important point is that we are in a position where we do not need to sell any player Mauricio (Pochettino) wants to keep," Hofstetter said.
"We have a very strong squad and we are still in a situation where we are free enough to act quickly if quick action is asked from us," he added.
