A man and a woman have been arrested after a body of newborn baby was found in Hull.

A member of the public found the baby's body on a cycle path in Hull and alerted police on Saturday at 7.15pm.

The infant is believed to be less than one week old, according to the Hull Daily Mail.

A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the death and are currently in custody.

Officers cordoned off the scene for enquiries and the body to be recovered.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "Police were called by a member of the public who found the baby's body on a cycle track between Rockford Avenue and Lamorna Avenue.

"Officers attended right away and closed off the scene in order for the body to be recovered and for initial enquiries to take place.

"Following initial enquiries, a man and woman were arrested in connection with the baby's death are are currently in custody."
