Bastian Schweinsteiger has strongly hinted he is ready to reject interest from Manchester United and chase another German title with Bayern Munich.

Schweinsteiger, 31, has reportedly been targeted by Louis van Gaal who is eager to make him and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos his marquee signings of the summer, according to BBC Sport.

The Express also suggest a move for the World Cup winner, who is entering the final year of his current deal at the Allianz Arena, could cost as little as £10m ($15.9m).

Bayern Munich CEO Karl Heinz-Rummenigge indicated earlier this month the club would not stand in the Germany international's way should he wish to take on a new challenge.

But Schweinsteiger has suggested his focus for next season is helping Bayern become the first side to win four Bundesliga titles in a row.

"We have won the Bundesliga for three consecutive times, no team has managed to win it four times. That is a motivation," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I feel good and I am ready to play the next three years at the top level. That is my goal."

Schweinsteiger is one of two midfielders to be heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford where Van Gaal is desperate for someone to ease the strain on Michael Carrick and occupy the no. 6 role in his side.

Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin has been tipped to complete a move to United this week, with the Daily Mail reporting he will sign a four-year deal at the club.

Strengthening his midfield remains a priority for Van Gaal who is keen to avoid a scenario next season where he is forced to use his players out of their favoured position.

"No.6 is a key player, yes. I have more key roles – the no.6 is just one of those key roles," van Gaal said in May. "You have seen this season, for example, because Michael Carrick is injured and I don't have another, I have to play with Ander Herrera there. He did it very well, but it is not his speciality.

"I have played Wayne Rooney there also, but it is not his favoured position. I had to do this because I don't have another right-footed holding midfielder like Carrick. That is why it is a key role, but I cannot discuss other positions because then I show too much."
