Check out the guide below detailing the instructions to keep your Lumia phone updated with the latest firmware.

How to update

Step-1: Your phone notifies you when an update is available. You can also manually check for the updates by navigating to Settings>> Phone Update>> Check for updates.

Note: Use a stable Wi-Fi network connection to install the update and avoid mobile data transmission cost.

Step-2: To view and install updates, tap the notification message and follow on-screen instructions. You might choose to install the update immediately or, postpone it to a more convenient time.

Step-3: It should take about 15-30 minutes. But keep in mind that major updates might take up to two hours. Just follow the update prompts and do not worry if your phone restarts several times during the process, this is quite normal.

You can schedule the update for a time that is convenient to you. Go to Settings>> Phone Update to check the preferred install time option. A few Lumia phones support downloading update to a memory card.
