Laura Loomer Calls Mitch McConnell Video 'Worse Than Joe Biden' and Claims 'Elder Abuse' After Senate Vote

Questions surrounding Mitch McConnell's return to the Senate have intensified after a new video showing the 84-year-old Republican senator leaving Capitol Hill prompted a reaction from Laura Loomer, who compared the footage with the controversy surrounding Joe Biden's final months in office.

Loomer responded to the footage by writing, 'Elder abused!' McConnell's recent return has already drawn renewed scrutiny following a 92-day absence from the Senate after a fall that led to hospitalisation and a prolonged recovery.

The video shows McConnell inside a vehicle after leaving the Senate following a vote by the Senate Agriculture Committee.

Two men, apparently members of his security detail, can be seen standing outside the car as people nearby attempt to speak to him.

Someone asks, 'Good for it? Yes,' but McConnell does not appear to respond verbally. Another person then asks, 'Any other bills you're looking forward to?' McConnell again does not answer, instead raising two fingers in a peace sign.

As the vehicle prepares to leave, a woman can be heard asking when they will see McConnell again. There is no audible response before the car door closes.

The footage emerged shortly after another video from the Senate Agriculture Committee showed McConnell being prompted during a vote on the farm bill.

McConnell had already indicated his support for the bill, while Senator John Hoeven initially told him 'no' after apparently misunderstanding which vote was taking place; McConnell ultimately voted 'aye'.

Loomer Has Previously Compared McConnell to Joe Biden

Loomer's latest comments were not the first time she has compared McConnell with Biden. In an X post on 15 September, she argued that McConnell appeared unable to respond normally and questioned whether he remained capable of carrying out his duties.

She used highly inflammatory language in her post, describing McConnell as 'brain dead' and 'incapacitated', while comparing the situation with the controversy over Biden's condition and suggesting McConnell's situation was even more troubling.

Her remarks represent Loomer's interpretation of the footage rather than an independent medical assessment of McConnell's condition.

McConnell has said he is still recovering and is not yet back to 100 per cent.

Jill Biden Faced Similar 'Elder Abuse' Allegations

The phrase 'elder abuse' has also featured in earlier political criticism of Jill Biden. In May 2025, former Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn accused former first lady Jill Biden of pushing Joe Biden to seek re-election despite concerns about his condition.

Quinn argued that Jill Biden should have discouraged her husband from seeking another term. The allegation was Quinn's characterisation and was not established as a legal or medical finding of elder abuse.

Mitch McConnell's 92-Day Absence Fuelled Speculation

McConnell was absent from the Senate for 92 days after a fall at his Washington home in June led to hospitalisation and a prolonged recovery.

His recovery included treatment for mild pneumonia and a period of rehabilitation, with McConnell later saying lingering effects of childhood polio had also complicated his recovery.

During his absence, limited public updates fuelled intense online speculation. A photograph released by his office was questioned by some social-media users who claimed it appeared AI-generated.

Weeks before his return, some online commentators even speculated that McConnell had died. Those claims were not substantiated, and his appearance in the Senate on 14 September showed that the claims were unfounded and that he had resumed his duties.

McConnell has said he is continuing physical therapy and is not yet back to 100 per cent. His recent appearances and the viral voting footage have nevertheless prompted renewed public discussion about his health and participation in Senate business, without providing a definitive medical assessment of his condition.
