A train crashed into the end of platform 3 at Churchgate station in Mumbai, India, around 11.25am local time on 28 June after it failed to stop before the end of the track. Five people have been reported injured.

The train derailed after the driver failed to apply the brakes, according to NDTV, and was pushed past the end of the platform. CCTV footage of the incident shows the train entering the station at high speed followed by onlookers running for safety as the train slams into the buffer stop. Passengers can be seen jumping from the broken-down train, shocked but unhurt.

Churchgate is one of the busiest stations on the Western Railway line. According to an official, disaster was only narrowly avoided in this incident because the station was less crowded than usual on a Sunday.
