A summer of live music is almost upon us with Coachella kicking off festival season in April PR shot

Festival season is almost upon us which means it is time to dust off your wellies, portable barbeques and flower crowns. Coachella will be kicking off the summer of live music in April, featuring the best in hip hop and indie rock while Glastonbury will open its gates for another spectacular year in June.

Music lovers in the US have already gotten a taster of the festival season with SXSW taking place in Austin, Texas in March but the real fun is yet to begin. Coachella

Dates: 15-24 April

Location: Indio, California

Headliners: Guns N' Roses, Calvin Harris and LCD Soundsystem. Other performers include Sia Ellie Goulding, Ice Cube, Disclosure, the Kills and Foals.

BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend

Dates: 28-29 May

Location: Powderham Castle, Exeter

Headliners: Full headliners are yet to be announced but performers so far include Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Craig David and The 1975.

Isle of Wight

Dates: 9-12 June

Location: Newport, Isle of Wight
