A sex offender who sexually abused a four-year-old girl for months and tried to make her keep it secret has been jailed indefinitely.

Liam Ineson, 21, of Lancaster, raped the youngster twice and sexually assaulted her a further four times, a court heard.

The victim was also made to watch a sex act by her attacker.

Ineson admitted to eight counts of child sex abuse at Lancaster crown court.

Speaking after the sentencing, Det Sgt Simon Coates of Lancaster Police, said: "Ineson preyed on a young girl and then tried to make her keep the abuse a secret.

"He is a dangerous individual and the indeterminate sentence means he should not be released from prison until experts are satisfied that he no longer poses a threat to our community."

Ineson was jailed indefinitely with a minimum term of five years.
