Perrie Edwards dramatically broke down crying during a live performance in the US. As she and her bandmates continue their promotional tour of the US, it seems the pressure was all too much.

While they performed their song The End, during NBC's 30 Rock Stage for AOL, the band's fourth anniversary global live stream fan event the singer broke down in tears.

The song lyric, 'no one can love you, the way I used to do,' appeared to trigger her emotional outburst which was caught during a live stream event. Thousands of shocked fans looked on as her bandmates Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall stopped singing and gathered around Perrie in a group hug in a bid to comfort her. Jesy addressed the crowd, joking: "It's been a long day."

The fans, who are all only too well aware of their newly-single idol's recent heartbreak, showed their support for the year-old, shouting: "We love you Perrie".

The hashtag #Perrie was quickly trending on Twitter, even eclipsing the Ashley Madison cheaters hacking scandal as fans turned to social media to share their shock at seeing the singer in tears. "Perrie is always so happy and giggly and seeing her crying broke my heart," said one fan.

"Perrie is really hurting," another fan said. "That video made me want to hug her omg."

The Little Mix singer has been the focus of attention following her public split from former One Direction star Zayn Malik.

Her break down comes in a week when Little Mix took to the stage with Taylor Swift who performed their song Black Magic with them. They also appeared on The Today Show with British comedian James Corden.

The band and their loyal fans have been celebrating their four year anniversary since winning The X Factor which propelled them to stardom.

It was through their participation in the show that Edwards first met Malik. The pair who were together for four years announced their engagement soon after.

It was thought that Malik quit One Direction in order to save his relationship amid reports of alleged infidelity. However, just weeks after the couple bought a house together it was revealed they had broken up. The £4.2 million house is back on the market, two months after they moved into the property.

As Little Mix continue to conquer the US, the singer earlier insisted she was having 'an absolute blast'. Asked about life following their break up, she recently said: "Do you know what? I'm good. I'm having an absolute blast in America, things are going so well, and I just wake up every day and I thank my lucky stars I have these three girls."
