Prince Andrew earned a negative reputation at such a young age. As the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, he was regarded as the troublemaker of the family. Growing up, he was reportedly obsessed with the finer things in life and his physical appearance. After all, he grew As an adult, Andrew was labelled the 'Party Prince' for drinking and hanging out with friends in clubs and bars across the United Kingdom. As a working royal, he was dubbed 'Airmiles Andy' due to his expensive travel habits that stood in stark contrast to his parents and siblings. Now, new information has emerged about the kind of person Andrew really was based on accounts from the Queen's former royal butler, Paul Burrell.

Why Prince Andrew Angered Royal Staff

Burrell is known for sharing private information about his time working for the royal family in his various books. In his memoir, 'The Royal Insider: My Life with the Queen', the King and Princess, Burrell claimed that Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, didn't want to leave their marital bed for days. Their royal staff wasn't allowed to enter their bedroom to clean after them either. Andrew and Ferguson also had a habit of asking the royal chefs to make them food left and right.

According to Burrell, this angered the royal staff because they were so used to serving the royal family their meals at a specific time. However, Andrew and Ferguson ordered à la carte from them multiple times a day. Andrew's lazy and gluttonous ways caused tension to the point that staff complained to the Queen. The monarch became upset with her son and reprimanded him.

'She had to intervene and put a stop to the lavish gluttony. After all, she despised waste, deciding in advance which food should be cooked for her each day. So why should Andrew and Fergie be different?' Burrell wrote.

Royal Family Could Get Into Trouble Because of Andrew

Burrell's claims come in the wake of new reports regarding Andrew's friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein. Newly released Epstein files revealed that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor visited Epstein's lavish properties on multiple occasions. After Epstein was released from jail, Ferguson also visited him together with her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

The royal family hasn't directly addressed Andrew's possible involvement in Epstein's human trafficking scandal, but they've been clear about showing support to his victims. Now, the public wants Andrew to serve time in jail, but there are fears that the royal family wouldn't allow this to happen. Royal biographer Andrew Lownie said the last thing the royal family wants is for their dirty laundry to be aired if Andrew goes to trial. The public would also be upset that the royal family refused to deal with Andrew's involvement with Epstein head on.

'He was protected by the Queen and that has continued,' he told Express. Andrew could avoid serving time in jail if he decides to relocate to a country without an extradition treaty with the UK, according to Lownie.
