Overview

Reading did not enjoy a great run in the top flight football as they will not feature in the league next season after confirming relegation. The Royals were promoted to the Premier League after winning the Championship last year. However, they have failed to replicate their last season's form in the league, which has seen them sit 19 in the league table with 28 points from 36 games.

Nigel Adkins took in charge of the club in March after the Royals sacked Brian McDermott was earlier that month. However, the former Southampton manager's appointment has made no difference as Reading has managed just once win since his arrival at Madejski Stadium. The 4-2 away win against Fulham in their previous fixture was the only win for Adkins in the Premier League with Reading.

The Citizens will be without their manager Roberto Mancini after he was shown the exit door by the club. The former Lazio and Inter Milan boss was sacked a year after he won the Premier League title. Brian Kidd will be in charge of the Etihad until the club finds a replacement.

Mancini's last game in charge with City was during their 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Wigan Athletic last weekend. The Citizens had already lost the Premier League title to Manchester United last month and a defeat at Wembley, coupled with exit from the Champions League in the group stages for the second year in a row resulted in the Italian's sack.

City come into this game after just two wins in their last five games played in all competitions. The Citizens are placed second in the table with 75 points from 36 games and are likely to finish the season in the same position.
