First images of the £50m mansion inside the tallest building in London, The Shard, have been revealed despite details being under wraps until the summer.

An Evening Standard source has revealed that the mansion is being built on floors 64 and 65 and will be as large as a six or seven-bedroom house.

It will be the most lavish apartment of the 10 homes under construction in The Shard and will sport 360-degree views of London.

Residents will be able to take full advantage of the building's "brain" which will be able to automatically adjust blinds depending on the weather and time of day.

Owners of the apartments, seven single-storey flats and three double-storey duplexes, will feast on food made at the highly regarded Shangri La hotel, which is being kitted out in the skyscraper. They will also be able to use its utilities including high-speed lift and swimming pool.

The penthouse is 735ft above ground level, making it the second-highest home in Europe after a residential area in Russia's Ural Mountains.

The source said: "Nobody has tried to do something as uncompromising as this on this sort of scale."

The properties, developed by the Sellar Property Group and its agents Knight Frank, will not be for sale until mid-summer. They are expected to be purchased by clients in the Middle East and Russia.
