SmackDown results: Ambrose, Ziggler, Harper and The Miz fight for No 1 contender for World title

WWE fans witnessed some exciting matches on the latest episode of SmackDown Live, which was aired from the Verizon Center in Washington D.C on 13 December. The main fight was for the WWE World Championship between champion AJ Styles and James Ellsworth, while in another featured match; Becky Lynch challenged Alexa Bliss for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship.

James Ellsworth vs (champion) AJ Styles (WWE World Championship)

The match has been postponed as Ellsworth is sick. Styles appeared on The Miz TV and said that he would destroy Ellsworth soon.

Becky Lynch vs (champion) Alexa Bliss (WWE SmackDown Women's Championship)

The match between the two divas was an exciting one from the start. Bliss tried her best to end the fight as quickly as possible but it was not to be. As the match progressed, the fight spilled out of the ring and Lynch was in total control as she thrashed Bliss. Lynch threw the champion back in the ring but she slipped out the other side. The referee counted Bliss out but she still retains her title.

Dean Ambrose vs Dolph Ziggler vs Luke Harper vs The Miz (WWE World Championship Number 1 Contender's Elimination Match)

Ambrose eliminated The Miz from the fight via pinfall with a small package and he next eliminated Harper with the Dirty Deeds. Finally, with The Miz and Harper out of the picture, Ziggler and Ambrose squared off. Ziggler emerged victorious as he carried out the a superkick for a win via pinfall.

The Hype Bros vs Heath Slater and Rhyno vs Breezango vs American Alpha vs The Vaudevillains, The Ascension and The Usos (WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship #1 Contender's Battle Royal)

Hype Bros became number 1 contenders to the SmackDown Tag Team Championship after Zack Ryder carried out the headscissors takeover on Ascension's Konnor.

Carmella vs Natalya

Carmella won with a small package.
