Spice Girls 30th Anniversary Teaser Ends in Disappointment as Reunion Tour Hopes Fade

A post by the Spice Girls celebrating their 30th anniversary got fans excited about a potential reunion tour from the girl group. However, a later post left fans disappointed over the lack of a tour announcement.

The renowned girl group's Instagram account released a teaser zooming in on a newspaper with the words, 'R U A SPICE GIRLS FAN WITH THE ABILITY TO SING & DANCE? R U A SUPERFAN, A COLLECTOR, A MUSIC LOVER?'

The post led fans to speculate that they would announce a tour on 10 September. 'If it's a world tour, I'm selling my house to buy tix,' one user said.

However, the press release the group shared on the date left some fans disappointed.

Spice Girls Announce Vinyl & CD Box Set for 30th Anniversary

On 10 September, the Spice Girls announced the release of The Singles Collection, a vinyl and CD box set containing all the singles the girl group have released, including 14 CDs with 160 tracks. Fans can listen to B-sides, demos and previously unreleased recordings. The set also contains collectible art cards, a 32-page booklet with messages from the Spice Girls and a 30th anniversary acrylic charm. The set is scheduled for release on 6 November 2026.

While many fans were excited to buy the set, the announcement left other fans of the Spice Girls underwhelmed. One noted that the news 'could have been an email.'

'Will purchase all of this but also ready for a tour ladies,' wrote a fan. 'I'll tell you what I want! What I really really want.....A TOUR WITH ALL 5!!!' said another.

'Another major disappointment!', @gregtgregt commented on Instagram. 'At this point it's hopeless to anticipate any reunion. You're milking your fans like any other greedy corporation. It's not fair, but it also damages the memory and nostalgia.'

Besides the reunion tour, fans have also been requesting the release of the Spice Girls movie Spice World on streaming platforms. It has not been widely available on streaming services, while Mel C has previously suggested that fans should be able to watch it 'somewhere soon', giving fans another thing to anticipate.

Why the Spice Girls Aren't Doing a Reunion Tour

The Spice Girls members Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Mel C (Sporty Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) disbanded in 2000. Even though they have stayed in contact with each other, Sporty Spice said in March that they 'failed to reach an agreement' about doing something special.

Mel B elaborated and said that it was difficult to get all five members together since they were working on their own projects and were also busy with their personal lives.

Mel B and Mel C have left the door open for a reunion with all five of them in the future, however.

The last time the Spice Girls performed together officially was at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony, where they sang 'Wannabe' and 'Spice Up Your Life'. They later reunited for the 2019 Spice World tour, which featured all five members except Victoria Beckham.

While they are no longer working together professionally, the five Spice Girls have remained close friends and had private reunions in the years since their disbandment. The members were all present for Victoria Beckham's 50th birthday. Three of them attended Mel C's wedding, while Posh Spice designed her wedding dress despite being absent because of the FIFA World Cup.
