Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher says she preferred partying with the Rolling Stones over the early mornings needed to play Princess Leia.

The 58-year-old was at a Star Wars convention which took place on 16-19 April in Anaheim, California attended by over 5,000 fans.

She kept the crowd on the edge of their seats with anecdotes from her days working on the sci-fi film franchise.

She recalled her friendship with Harrison Ford who played Han Solo, ridiculing him as a "scruffy-looking nerf herder". The two actors partied with the Rolling Stones during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back, while she was staying in London at Monty Python star Eric Idle's home.

"I said to Harrison, 'The Rolling Stones are coming over!' We had a really early call. You had to measure it: The Rolling Stones or early call? Both! They're a bunch of guys. I told you before I didn't really drink. But to be amenable, I drank. I used to say I'm allergic to drinking. This would have been a demonstration of that.

"So we stayed up pretty late. Then we got to the set two hours later. We weren't hung over. We were still in our cups. If you look at those scenes, Harrison and I are smiling when we arrive at Cloudy City," she said in a Sunday Times report.

When Fisher was shown a series of film clips showing her as Princess Leia kissing a number of characters, she called herself a "space slut".

Her iconic hairstyle was much admired and copied many times but fans won't be seeing them in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

'"The buns are tired now so I don't think we'll have the futuristic buns, but we will have an alternate that will not include the metal bikini."

Also speaking at the Star Wars Celebration event was Mark Hamill, who will be reprising his role as Luke Skywalker. He admitted that despite previously ruling out a Luke comeback, once the idea came up, he had little choice.

"Could you imagine if for some reason I said 'I don't think I want to do it?' I would have all of you surrounding my house like villagers, angry villagers with lightsabers instead of torches."

Harrison Ford did not attend the Star Wars event, as he is still recovering from injuries received when he crash-landed his private plane.
