Presley Gerber's death at 27 has sparked intense speculation about what happened to the model after authorities confirmed he died while at a rehabilitation facility.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner listed his death as occurring on 20 September, but has not released a cause of death, meaning reports linking his death to his previous struggles with mental health or substance abuse remain unconfirmed.

The son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber was reportedly at an undisclosed rehab facility when he died. An autopsy has not yet been completed, according to reports, leaving several important questions unanswered.

The report identifies the location as a rehabilitation facility but does not provide further details surrounding the circumstances of his death.

An autopsy is reportedly still pending, so there is currently no confirmed medical explanation for his death.

That has not stopped speculation from spreading online, particularly because Presley had previously spoken publicly about addiction, depression and other mental health difficulties.

However, his past struggles do not establish what caused his death. Until the medical examiner releases further findings, any claims connecting those issues directly to his death remain speculation.

Presley's family, meanwhile, has remained focused on mourning privately.

Presley Tried To Turn His Experience Into Help

Despite the difficulties he faced, Presley increasingly used his platform to speak about recovery and mental health.

He launched a series of 'Mental Health Mondays' videos on Instagram, where he discussed his experiences and encouraged conversations around recovery. In one video posted in 2024, he spoke about being involved in recovery circles and finding common ground with people facing similar struggles.

His approach was also reflected in comments he made on the Studio 22 podcast.

'Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that's all I need to do,' Presley said.

For now, his cause of death remains unknown. The medical examiner's findings are expected to provide further information once the investigation and autopsy are complete.

His Struggles With Addiction Were Public

Presley had spent years speaking about difficulties that he once kept largely private.

He was arrested for driving under the influence in Beverly Hills in 2019 after being stopped for speeding. He later pleaded no contest to the misdemeanour charge and was sentenced to probation, community service and a DUI programme.

In later years, Presley became increasingly open about addiction and recovery. In 2024, he spoke about battling a severe, multi-year opiate addiction and described experiencing a near-fatal fentanyl overdose that reportedly left him in a coma for several days.

He later entered rehabilitation and underwent treatment involving ibogaine.

Presley also discussed his experiences with prescription medication and said he had seen more than 15 psychiatrists during his struggles.

In a since-deleted Instagram video, he spoke about medications including buprenorphine, Xanax and Valium, saying they had been used in connection with his panic attacks.

He also said he had reached five months of sobriety from alcohol.
