Ed Sheeran Ticket Prices Fall to $65 Online With Nine Loop Tour Dates Left After the Macklemore Row

Ed Sheeran fans can buy a seat in Atlanta for $65 (about £49). TickPick, a resale site where fans and brokers sell tickets, listed that Loop Tour price on Monday 21 September. Ticketmaster, an official seller, asked $22 (about £16) more for its cheapest seat on any date last week.

Nine US dates remain for the British singer. Resale prices fell for nine of the 10 shows that remained before the Philadelphia concert, TicketData found. Messina Touring Group said venues would not allow concerts with Macklemore following his pro-Palestinian remarks, and the remaining support acts and Sheeran's touring band withdrew within a day. Buyers who paid full price see cheaper seats, and most Ticketmaster sales are final.

What Seats Cost Now

On Monday, TickPick's lowest price was $60 (about £45) for Friday's show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, near Boston. Ticketmaster charged $112 (about £84) for an upper-level seat there last week, so a fan who resells at the lower amount gets back about half the cost. TickPick showed more than 9,000 tickets for that one night. The site says it adds no service fee, which means a buyer pays only the listed amount.

Every other stadium date on TickPick, from Charlotte to Tampa, started below the cheapest price shown by its primary ticket seller, and only the two Hard Rock Live nights cost more. That smaller indoor venue in Hollywood, Florida, started at $300 (about £224) for its late October dates. John Higgins, owner of Higs Tickets, told CNN that 'right now ticket sales have fallen way off.' Higgins said his firm sold its Foxborough stock early and would not buy more.

Why the Support Acts Left

Macklemore opened for Sheeran at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on 4 and 5 September. The rapper backed Palestinians from the stage both nights. Robert Kraft, whose Kraft Group owns Gillette Stadium, said Macklemore would not perform at the Foxborough shows and cited what he called antisemitic rhetoric. Macklemore denies any antisemitism. The promoter, Messina Touring Group, said later venues refused a lineup with Macklemore. Sheeran answered in the Instagram post shown below.

Sheeran wrote that the promoter held Macklemore's contract and made the decision. Finneas, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga withdrew the same day. TicketData logged a 45 per cent drop to $75 (about £56) for Philadelphia in the week to Friday 18 September. Its founder, Keith Pagello, told Newsweek that 'more shows decline in price as the date approaches than rise.' Prices fell 22 per cent on average in each show's final fortnight before the concert, Pagello said.

What Buyers Can Do Next

Ticketmaster's policy states that all sales are final and that opening acts may change or be cancelled without notice, with no refund owed. A fan who no longer wants to go can resell, which in Foxborough means a loss at current prices.

Sheeran played Philadelphia without a support act on Saturday 19 September. 'I am making mistakes, and I'm so, so sorry,' Sheeran, the tour's headliner, told the crowd, ABC News reported. The singer returns on Friday to Gillette Stadium, where he drew a venue-record crowd of 71,723 on 1 July 2023, the venue says.
