A man has been arrested on suspicion of the "horrific" murder of Glasgow father Stephen McGinlay.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Stephen McGinlay, 26, slumped to the ground of a chip shop in Woodside, north Glasgow, after he and a friend were violently set upon by three men on 2 October.

He is believed to have asked staff at the Prego Fish Bar for a glass of water before collapsing. He died of his injuries three days later at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Last month Liam Strang, from Cranhill, appeared in court for allegedly striking McGinlay on the head and body with a knife or similar instrument in the attack.

He entered no plea and was remanded in custody.
