Kayla Nicole's subtle swipe at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's whirlwind romance took centre stage in a Super Bowl 'Sleeper' ad. As the iconic NFL showdown played out on screens across the UK and beyond, Nicole's 'lingering bitterness' and unresolved history with the current lovers seems to take on new heights.

The ad, for 'Sleeper,' a dating app promising to help users 'ex-communicate' from their exes, starred big names like Ben Simmons and Tiffany Haddish. Yet, it was Nicole's cameo that made headlines, not for promoting a product, but for what some might call a subtle but unmistakable dig.

'Kayla Nicole: ex of a certain NFL player'

The scene was parody-like, and humour was a calculated jab.

'Don't get me started on these two," Nicole quipped, referring to 'Kelce and Swift,' who had become the NFL's hottest couple arguably the most talked-about love story of the year.

'They've got no idea what they're doing. At all.' Her tone, delivered with a wry smile, suggested she wasn't just talking about football or pop stardom.

In the ad, she ribbed Simmons and Haddish as if they'd promised to resolve her heartbreak in a flash.

'They promised me they could put an end to this whole 'ex-girlfriend' fiasco quickly,' she said, prompting a humorous back-and-forth with Simmons, who insisted,

'That doesn't sound like what I said,' Ben said.

Nicole then clarified, 'Rapidly,' adding a layer of sardonic sarcasm that resonated with anyone familiar with the messy aftermath of celebrity breakups.

'Okay, pronto,' Kayla remarked.

Ben exclaimed, 'I said SWIFTLY! Why is that so hard to remember?'

The internet is not having it

'Sleeper' posted the same ad on their X account and the public took a swipe at how 'low' the Nicole can go.

'I am super disappointed you would platform this unhinged behavior from a documented racist, homophobic, xenophobic clout-chasing human being. Is this a reflection of your company's values? I will be deleting your app and will not use it again in the future,' one woman replied on the ad.

'Bitter ex's teaming up. Poor Cardi & Travis , I know they TIREEDDDD,' another user commented before posting a cactus meme with the words, 'Garbage is still garbage.'

'This might be the most embarrassing commercial I've seen. This gal is clout chasing bunny burner. She needs help for her mental illness,' posted another.

'What are they even advertising? This looks like a Lele Pons skit.'

'This is beyond embarrassing for everyone involved. The fact that neither person in that new relationship had uttered this ex's name while she has marketed herself with his name for 9 years - 4 after the dump- is pathetic.'

'This is quite possible the most embarrassing thing I've ever seen. Bunch of losers.'

'Its giving Clout Chasing Convention because the money dried up.'

'She's still talking about it?'

Kayla Nicole, who dated Kelce for five years, has long been a peripheral figure in the narrative of his evolving love life. Her brief appearance in the ad, however, was like a vendetta.

Nicole's openness about her feelings adds depth to her public persona. She admitted on the 'Unapologetically Angel' podcast in 2024 that the online chatter sometimes cruel still affects her.

'I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just online chaos doesn't impact me,' she confessed, revealing the emotional toll that comes with being linked to someone as famously adored as Taylor Swift.

For Nicole, the aftermath of her relationship with Kelce isn't just a chapter in her past; it's a recurring story that continues to unfold in the court of public opinion. Her mention of people commenting on her worth 'people debating why I'm worthless' speaks volumes about the societal tendency to scrutinise women's lives through a lens of judgment and unfair expectation.

Nevertheless, she's trying to move forward. When asked about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement announced just a few months before her appearance, her response was succinct: 'Oh, no, no, no.' That's a polite way of saying she's deliberately choosing to keep her distance from the spectacle, even as it dominates headlines.

As she looks ahead to new possibilities, Nicole's vision of an ideal partner reflects her desire for honesty, integrity, and fun qualities perhaps absent from the chaotic media circus surrounding her ex's new relationship.

'A man of really great character,' she says, 'someone who likes to have fun, spontaneous, with a good relationship with his family.'
