A 38-year-old man in Nigeria is facing charges of repeatedly raping his own teenage daughter and allowing one of his friends to sexually assault the girl for years.

The two accused – Yusuf Oriyomi and Idowu Ayigoro (42) – were recently presented before an Ikeja chief magistrate's court in Nigeria's Lagos state.

Prosecutor Inspector Clifford Ogu told the court that the two men took turns in raping the 15-year-old on several occasions since 2012. They allegedly repeated the heinous crime on 30 April when the girl's mother was not home for a night.

Ogu said that the mother had travelled to a nearby village and returned the next morning when the girl narrated her ordeal to her. She told her mother that her father woke her up in the middle of the night and forced himself on her. She also opened up about the past incidences of rape by her own father and his friend.

The mother then filed a complaint with the police, who arrested the two accused.

The father, a baker by profession, is reportedly facing charges of sexual assault of own daughter, while his friend, a carpenter, was arraigned for alleged sexual assault on the same girl, Vanguard reported.

The accused have denied the charges and they on bail now. The next hearing is scheduled for 28 June.

In another recent horrifying incident of rape in northwest Nigeria, a one-year-old girl was gang-raped by three men in Katsina State. The brutal assault led to the child slipping into coma. The baby girl was snatched from the mother who had strapped the child to her back and was walking back home from a nearby village.
