An unexplained, box-like outline beneath Donald Trump's suit has reappeared in a video shared by White House aide Margo Martin, renewing online speculation about whether the shape is connected to the president's health or a concealed mobility device.

The footage was recorded on 16 September as Trump spoke to reporters outside Air Force One at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. He was in the state to campaign for Republican Senate nominee Michael Whatley, who is running against former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper.

The outline is visible at the back of Trump's jacket as he moves and appears to remain in roughly the same position above the trouser line. The footage does not show what is beneath the jacket clearly enough to establish whether the shape comes from clothing, equipment or the camera angle.

The Shape Has Appeared in Earlier Footage

Similar images have circulated since spring 2026, including footage from Trump's April 2026 60 Minutes interview and a video from a Long Island rally shared by former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in August.

Those images have prompted online theories that Trump could be wearing a brace, exoskeleton or another mobility device. Some posts have offered other medical explanations, but there is no evidence establishing any of them.

Comparisons with commercial powered exoskeletons are based on visual resemblance rather than evidence that Trump uses such equipment. Neither Trump, his doctors nor the White House has confirmed that explanation.

The images also do not establish that Trump has a medical condition. A visual outline cannot, by itself, provide a medical diagnosis.

White House Rejects Speculation

The White House has rejected the speculation but has not publicly identified what caused the outline.

After The Daily Beast asked about the latest footage, White House spokesman Davis Ingle described reports about the bulge as 'baseless conspiracy theories about President Trump'. He also defended Trump's energy, work schedule and public accessibility.

Ingle did not say whether Trump uses a brace, mobility aid or other equipment. His response therefore rejects the speculation without resolving what is visible beneath the suit.

Trump's Medical Report Offers No Answer

Trump's latest publicly released medical examination provides some context, although it does not identify the object seen in the videos.

Physician to the President Sean P. Barbabella examined Trump at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on 26 May, with the findings released in a memorandum dated 29 May. The report said Trump remained in 'excellent health' and recorded normal motor strength, sensation, reflexes, gait and balance.

The memorandum does not identify an exoskeleton, brace or other walking aid. It also noted slight lower-leg swelling, which had improved from the previous year.

An earlier White House medical memorandum in July 2025 identified chronic venous insufficiency after Trump reported mild swelling in both lower legs. The condition was not linked to a need for mobility support.

The May examination does not prove that Trump is not using a device that was not discussed in the report. It does, however, mean that no publicly released medical record has identified the suit outline as a mobility aid.

Martin Makes No Claim About the Bulge

Martin shared the footage on Instagram while covering Trump's North Carolina trip. She did not identify or discuss the outline in the post.

Trump has previously referred to Martin as 'the most beautiful photographer in the world', a description he gave her at a 2025 campaign event.

The video is notable because it provides another public view of a shape seen in earlier footage. It does not establish that Martin intended to highlight the shape or that she knew what caused it.

The Images Leave the Question Unresolved

The footage establishes that an unusual shape was visible beneath Trump's suit, and that similar images have appeared before. It does not establish whether the shape comes from clothing, equipment or something else.

For now, claims that Trump is using an exoskeleton, brace or other concealed medical device remain unverified. Unless Trump, his doctors or another reliable source provides evidence identifying the object, the footage alone cannot establish what is behind the suit.
