The Walking Dead Season 5 premiere is a little more than two months away but fans can't wait to know what becomes of Rick and group post the shocking ending of Season 4.

Well luckily, in his latest interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Walking Dead comic book creator and the show's executive producer and writer Robert Kirkman gave some interesting updates on the upcoming season's first episode.

Kirkman revealed that Season 5 Episode 1 will take place right in the train car where Season 4 left off and that it's "very much going to focus on the story of Terminus".

"There's a lot of big revelations that haven't really come out that I think people are gonna be pretty startled by," he said.

"There's a couple other revelations that I think people might've gotten a little bit of a lead on. We'll definitely be defining those in some cool ways and confirming some theories and shooting down others, which is very exciting."

"But I think the coolest thing about coming back to Season 5 is that we really hit the ground running," he continued. "What I mean by that is that we very quickly deal with the situation that we left them in — this trapped, victim situation where they're kind of at the mercy of the people of Terminus. We really kind of expand the story from there very rapidly, so I think this is going to be a pretty fast-paced season with quite a bit going on."

The Walking Dead Season 5 is also rumoured to be the last for some major characters. During an interview with AMC, Kirkman also spoke about how hard and emotional it is for him to kill of characters in the series. "In a lot of cases, I've had to kill these characters twice because I had already killed them in the comic," he said.
