Piers Morgan has met the serial killer Mark Riebe, who was convicted of one murder but has confessed multiple times to the abduction and killing of 13 women along Florida's Gulf Coast.

Riebe has since withdrawn his confessions, but police believe he is one of the worst serial killers in Florida's history – and we get to meet him on ITV's Serial Killer with Piers Morgan.

Good Morning Britain host Morgan uses Riebe's video and audio confessions, news archive and testimony to explore what type of person would commit murder and then taunt the victims' families for nearly 20 years.

The 56-year-old is currently serving life in Florida's maximum security Blackwater Prison for the murder of one woman, though it is suspected he has killed many more.

He was convicted in 1998 of the murder of Donna Callahan, 29, on 6 August 1989. The pregnant mother from Pensacola, Florida, vanished from the convenience store where she worked.

The case remained unsolved for seven years until Riebe's jailbird half-brother William Alex Wells turned informant reported him to police.

Riebe was subsequently sentenced to at least 25 years in jail after his lawyer said he was too intoxicated on medication and alcohol to remember what had happened.

Morgan tells Riebe that he doesn't believe his claims of innocence in a edgy stand-off and orders him to sit down "like a man" and answer his questions.

"See Mark, I don't believe you. I think you are a serial killer. I think you did kill these women. I think these families of these women need justice," says Morgan.

The convict retaliated by tearing his microphone off and storming out of the room, which cuts the interview short.

He then interjected with: "Well you're wrong. This is over. We're done. I answered your questions."

Ever provocative, Morgan replied: "Why are you running away? Why don't you sit here like man and answer these questions? I know I'm not a 110lb woman you can kill. You did kill them didn't you? You killed them all."

Serial Killer with Piers Morgan airs at 9pm on ITV on 16 November.
