The pick of today's European football transfer rumours for 22 June 2011. Any transfer gossip surrounding Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma, Barcelona and Real Madrid will be covered here.

Transfer round-up

Chelsea defender and amateur Sideshow Bob look-alike David Luiz is a shock £27.5m target for Barcelona, according to the Sun. The Catalan club have fitness concerns over hirsute captain Carles Puyol and Luiz has "indicated he might listen to an offer from Barca, but only if Chelsea give their blessing". Which seems unlikely.

In The Mirror, extravagantly monikered new boss Andre Villas-Boas has lined up an "£80m triple swoop" for Porto's Falcao and Joao Moutinho, as well as Santos striker Neymar. Elsewhere at Stamford Bridge, Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o is a £12m target for the Blues, according to the Star -- with moody strike duo Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka expected to be given their P45s.

Also in the Star, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will duke it out with Manchester United over midfield sprite Wesley Sneijder after both clubs missed out on Udinese's Alexis Sanchez. Mancini is also interested in Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi who would cost £27m.

Manchester United goalkeeping target David de Gea has dropped his "heaviest hint yet" that he may stay at Atletico Madrid after he called the Spanish side "a great club", according to TalkSPORT.

"Manchester United are a great club and being associated with them is a great compliment for me, but Atletico are also great," de Gea said. Without the 20-year-old actually saying anything of any note whatsoever, the tabloids have spun two stories from this fairly mundane comment. Depending on your red-top of choice the Spain Under-21 international will either a) join United or b) stay at Atletico. Thrilling stuff.

Rounding up a fairly meagre day of Premier League transfer news, goal-shy Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner will move to Borussia Dortmund for £12m, with the Gunners interested in West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie to replace the lumbering Dane; Paris Saint-Germain will offer Manchester United £11m for dour-faced forward Dimitar Berbatov; and Liverpool are all set to make a move for French striker Nolan Roux, who scored 21 goals in 53 games for French club Brest, and would cost half a Connor Wickham, or £6.5m according to TalkSPORT.

In Spain, Barcelona-based El Mundo Deportivo claim Real Madrid are set to use Brazilian disappointment Kaka, who is only 28, as a bargaining chip to get a deal done with Santos for hot-shot forward Neymar. Staying in Madrid, the Express suggests that teenage defender Raphael Varane will snub Manchester United and almost-certainly-definitely-maybe move to Real Madrid.

"Paris St Germain have made me an offer, that is probably the worst kept secret around," Lens president Gervais Martel told Radio Monte Carlo. "A second club is also interested in him, but he isn't necessarily guaranteed first-team football there either. The asking price is around 10 million euros (£8.9million). Certain big overseas club have offered more, but I quickly shut the door on them!" he said, clearly relishing his day in the sun.

Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe has pleaded ignorance when asked whether he is on his way to Benfica as part of a deal to bring Fabio Coentrao to the Bernabeu. "I don't know anything. I'm not thinking about this," Drenthe told Voetball International.

Catalunya Radio says Barca striker Bojan has agreed to move to Roma for £9m after he returns from Euro Under-21 action with Spain, though the European champions will apparently keep a buy-back option.

And Alexis Sanchez's transfer to Barcelona is "80 per cent done", Udinese representative Quique Pina has told Cadena COPE. "Right now Barcelona just have to iron out a few details, but it's practically done," Pina said.
