British pop star Adele is all set to revamp the nature and tone of her performance at "The X-Factor" finale, after falling ill with a severe throat infection.

The singer was selected, amid some secrecy, as the star turn for the Wembley arena episode of ITV1's reality music show, on Dec. 11. The selection was made by Simon Cowell, in February, after her spectacular show in Britain, The Sun reported.

The "Someone Like You" singer, who will be performing for the first time since being diagnosed with vocal cord hemorrhage in October, is expected to perform in front of 20 million television viewers and a live audience of 10,000 strong.

She wrote on her blog last week, claiming to be "on the mend". A source has since confirmed that she has started her preparations and plans to honour her "The X-Factor" booking.

"Her management said this week she is still planning to make it. It's amazing news for fans and viewers," the source said.

According to The Sun, Adele is expected to perform a duet with one finalist, who is likely to be either Amelia Lily or Marcus Collins, providing they make it to the final three.

Meanwhile, ITV chiefs are set to make the show their biggest ever. There were speculations that Cowell might appear but a source close to the tycoon said: "He's not coming - unless he changes his mind at the last minute."
