Apple has finally launched its new credit card, called the Apple Card in the US on Tuesday evening. All US customers can apply for the card through the Wallet app on their iPhones. They will be able to use the card virtually through the Apple Pay app before the physical card arrives in the mail.

"We're thrilled with the overwhelming interest in Apple Card and its positive reception. Customers have told us they love Apple Card's simplicity and how it gives them a better view of their spending," Jennifer Bailey, Apple's vice president of Apple Pay stated in an official press release.

The company has announced inaugural offers for the card – users will get 3 percent cashback on Uber and Uber Eats. Instead of regular credit card points, users will get an immediate 2 percent cashback on transactions. The cashback will be added to users' Apple Cash account. Users can alternatively choose to add this balance to their card's monthly balance.

If a user opts for the titanium version of the credit card, he/she will get 1 percent daily cashback.

While the card comes in partnership with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard, it works differently than a usual credit card. It will have no annual fees, cash advance fees or overdraft fees. Its annual percentage rate will range from 12.99 percent to 23.99 percent. It will be determined according to the creditworthiness of the cardholder.

The cards are clearly demarcated in the app and are color-coded so that there is no confusion for users.

Apple has announced new merchants including Scheduled Rides and JUMP, which are slated to introduce Apple Pay soon.

Apple Card
Apple Card is the company's credit card with no fees.

One of the benefits that Apple has been hailing is data security. Apple has assured users that it will not collect card usage data – the company will not know when and where you shop and its partners will not sell data to third parties for marketing purposes.

The physical card will not display a fixed number on the card unlike regular credit cards – all data is stored on a magnetic stripe on the card. To use it with Apple Pay, users will need an iPhone 6 or a newer device running on iOS 12.4.
