Will Apple’s iPhone 4S Take Down Samsung Galaxy S3? Apple

The iPhone 4S has turned out to be an amazing device, thanks to Siri, iOS 5, iCloud and iSight camera. However, primary rivals Samsung's unannounced but highly speculated on Galaxy S3 could deal a killer blow, if the rumours surrounding its specifications are true. A recently leaked press invite suggests Samsung's smartphone could be released on 22 May.

Display

Apple's iPhone 4S flaunts a LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 960x640 pixels. The 3.5-inch device incorporates Corning Gorilla Glass and a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating. The Retina Display offers crisp text, sharp graphics and stunning images.

According to South Korean media, it is reported that the Galaxy S3 could feature a 4.8-inch display with 16:9 ratio.

Processor

The iPhone 4S is powered by a 1GHz Cortex-A9 dual-core CPU with 512 MB RAM and A5 chipset and a PowerVR SGX43MP2 that offers support for powerful graphics. The A5 chip delivers up to twice the power and seven times faster processing capabilities.

The Galaxy S3 is expected to come with a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU and an Exynos chipset and a whopping 2GB of RAM.

Operating System

The iPhone 4S, of course, flaunts Appl'es much vaunted iOS5 operating system, complete to its iOS 5.1 version.

The Galaxy S3, it is believed, will run Android's newest software - the Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0.

Camera

Apple provided an amazing 8 megapixel iSight camera for its iPhone 4S. The camera offered photographs with a resolution of 3264x2448 pixels and features like autofocus, tap-to-focus, LED flash, face detection and photo and video geo-tagging. It offers 1080p video recording with video stabilisation. The camera provides 60 percent more pixels when compared to its predecessor.

According to rumours, the Galaxy S3 is expected to have a 12 megapixel rear-shooter with support for 1080p full HD video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.

Storage

The iPhone 4S offers an option of 16/32/64GB of internal storage. The device lacks a microSD card slot.

Samsung's Galaxy S3 is expected to come in 16/32GB internal storage models and a microSD card slot that allows for up to 32GB of additional storage space.
