Police in Argentina have arrested 30 suspected paedophiles after authorities smashed a global child pornography ring which spread across Latin America and reached Europe.

Argentine Interpol teamed up with authorities in Spain as well as regional neighbours such as Uruguay, Brazil and Chile to help bust the international paedophile network which operated out of various provinces across Argentina.

Deputy Commissioner for Technological Crime at the Argentine Federal Police, Walter Bernal, told media the images were distributed across the world via the Internet.

Media reported a raid in the city of La Plata where authorities had seized 1,500 CDs with pornographic material as well as video cameras and computer servers.

Victims were believed to be as young as two years old.

According to media, authorities raided 19 premises in Buenos Aires as well as Santa Fe and Cordoba, and arrested 30 Argentine nationals for the production and distribution of child pornography.

Federal police believe more people in countries such as Costa Rica, Spain and Uruguay are involved in the paedophile ring.
