Arsenal January signing Mohamed Elneny has revealed that he is pleased at being handed the Vitality player of the month award for March and insists that he is still warming up and there is a lot for him to contribute in the times ahead. The Egypt international was signed from Basel and has made an instant impact on the team, who are on a run of two back-to-back wins.

Elneny was handed the opportunity to start against Barcelona at Camp Nou and has been part of the midfield pairing with Francis Coquelin ever since, with Arsene Wenger recently commenting that the 23-year-old adds balance in the middle in the pitch, which was missing when the Gunners used the services of Aaron Ramsey or Mathieu Flamini. The midfielder attempted 127 passes against Watford, more than any other player this season and is slowly becoming an indispensable part of the Gunners midfield.

The Egyptian was also awarded the best goal of the month award for March for the one he scored from just outside the penalty box against Barcelona in the second leg to bring parity to the game. The Gunners lost the fixture 3-1, but were applauded for the fight they showed over the two legs.

"I am very happy to be Player of the Month for such a big club," he told Arsenal's Official website. "It feels very good, it will motivate me to have more faith as I play in the team and it shows how the fans love and believe in me.

"It is very helpful to feel that you are loved by the people in the club and the fans - and I still have more to give the team.

"So, I would like to thank all the people who nominated me. This is just the beginning. Hopefully, I will contribute more and more to the team in the future," he added.
