Aston Martin has been voted the UK's coolest brand, beating Apple, Rolex and Google to take the top step in a survey carried out by The Centre for Brand Analysis.

The Gaydon-based car manufacturer has won the title of Britain's coolest five times in the last six years, with Apple and Harley-Davidson taking second and third places respectively.

The new £1.2m One-77. What recession?

"Smooth, sexy and sophisticated; British built, high quality and hand finished, let's be honest, young or old, male or female, opinion former or British public, who wouldn't aspire to own what is truly the coolest car on the road. Number one in five of the last six years, this British icon is truly the coolest of cool," chairman of the CoolBrands Council and chief executive of The Centre for Brand Analysis, Stephen Cheliotis said.

Aston Martin has had a bumper few years, with the brand introducing a rage of new cars, with the 4-door Rapide and controversial Cygnet city car, to the race-inspired V12 Zagato and the £1.2m One-77 hypercar.

James Bond's favourite has a global reach, with a network of 136 dealers in 42 countries selling a range of ten cars, all oozing in British-made cool.
