Rapper bbno$ Launches Massive Palestine Charity Concert to Counter Controversial Macklemore Tour Firing

Rapper bbno$ has proposed a massive charity concert to raise money for Palestine, calling on fellow artists to join the event as he publicly backs Macklemore following the rapper's removal from Ed Sheeran's US tour.

The Canadian rapper announced the idea on social media, asking followers to suggest performers and a city for the proposed event. 'I wanna throw a massive charity concert and raise money for Palestine,' he wrote, also urging artists to 'stand on business and raise some money,' according to Billboard Canada.

bbno$ described the proposed event as a 'massive charity concert' and asked his followers: 'who should perform? what city?' The concert has not yet been given an official date or venue, and no full performer line-up or charity beneficiaries have been announced.

The proposal quickly drew responses from other Canadian artists. Good Kid replied 'Hell Yes!' while drag performer Priyanka wrote 'IM IN!!!??' Canadian actor Maitreyi Ramakrishnan also suggested Toronto as a possible host city, Billboard Canada reported.

His proposal came as he publicly backed Macklemore, whose removal from Sheeran's tour has prompted further reactions from musicians over the rapper's advocacy for Palestine.

bbno$ Speaks Out Over Macklemore Controversy

In an earlier video from a concert, bbno$ addressed Roy and criticised what he described as an 'Israeli meme,' before urging him to reconsider the joke.

'No worries, Roy. I love you. Also, my man, are you throwing up like an Israeli meme? I don't think that's very funny, man. You should really reconsider what you're doing and think about jokes before you make them,' bbno$ said.

He then added: 'Because in the end of the day man it's free Palestine.'

The remarks came as Macklemore faced fallout after being removed from Sheeran's Loop Tour following his pro-Palestinian comments during a 4 September performance at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium.

Macklemore Was Removed From Ed Sheeran's Tour

Macklemore was removed from the remaining US dates after saying 'Free Palestine' during his MetLife Stadium performance and speaking about Gaza and the occupied West Bank. The tour promoter, Messina Touring Group, said venues had notified it that they would not allow concerts to take place with Macklemore on the line-up.

Sheeran later said the decision was made by the promoter and venues rather than him. Macklemore had been scheduled to appear on eight of the 10 remaining US shows, according to ITV News.

Macklemore Pledges $1 Million To Palestinian Aid

Macklemore subsequently announced that he would donate his entire $1 million (£749,000) in net earnings from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour to six organisations supporting Palestinians. He also invited Robert Kraft to match the donation.

The six organisations are the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, Anera, HEAL Palestine, Medical Aid for Palestinians, Gaza Soup Kitchen and UNRWA USA.

Kraft said Sheeran had asked him to commit $2 million (£1.4 million) towards humanitarian aid in the region, although Kraft did not specify the organisations that would receive the money.

Other Artists Quit Sheeran's Tour

The fallout also affected Sheeran's supporting line-up. Finneas, Lukas Graham, Aaron Rowe and Beoga withdrew from the remaining US dates following Macklemore's removal.

Sheeran's Loop Tour is scheduled to resume in Philadelphia on 19 September. Meanwhile, bbno$ has yet to confirm whether Toronto will become the host city or whether the artists who expressed interest will join the final line-up.

The proposed Palestine charity concert therefore remains at the planning stage, with its date, venue, performers and fundraising arrangements still to be confirmed.
