Robin Gibb reportedly told his son that he wanted Bee Gees classic hit How Deep Is Your Love to be the first song played at his funeral, it has been revealed.

The pop legend, who made up one third of the made up the chart-topping group passed away on Sunday, after a long battle with cancer, aged 62.

He is said to have made the request to Spencer on his deathbed.

The emotional ballad, penned by the Gibb and his famous brothers Maurice and Barry, held a special place in his heart.

Not only did it feature in hit movie Saturday Night Fever it also went to No1 in America and reached No3 in the UK in 1977.

A close family friend told the Sun: "It's a beautiful song, penned by a beautiful person.

"It couldn't be more appropriate when we all say goodbye."
