Ben Davies discusses Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier amid Kyle Walker exit speculation

Tottenham defender Ben Davies has praised 'top, top player' Kieran Trippier and says Mauricio Pochettino's men have 'every faith' in the former Burnley star, with doubts surrounding the future of Kyle Walker.

Trippier was preferred ahead of Walker by Mauricio Pochettino for Tottenham's 2-0 north London derby victory over Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Sunday (30 April) and stifled Gunners talisman Alexis Sanchez with relative ease.

The 26-year-old has had to make do with a peripheral role this season due to the form of Walker, but with the England international's time at Tottenham potentially coming to an end after a bust-up with Pochettino, Trippier could soon become the club's first-choice right-back, and Davies seems to have no qualms with that whatsoever.

"I think he's [Trippier] been excellent," the Welsh international's told Tottenham's official website. "There's a lot of full-backs in this league who've had a tough time against Alexis Sanchez and on Sunday I thought Trips marked him out of the game.

"Those performances are only good for the club and it's fantastic when you've got two quality right-backs in this team that are pushing each other week in, week out. As players, we've got every faith in him. We think he's a top, top player and if he comes into the side or whoever the manager picks to start, it doesn't make a difference to the way we expect to play."

Despite Davies' kind words, Trippier has only started four Premier League matches this season, though Pochettino did award him with a starting spot for Tottenham's recent FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. The former Manchester City youth graduate will hope he can add to his tally of starts on Friday when Spurs travel to face West Ham United at The London Stadium, hoping to keep their fading title challenge alive.
