Doctor Strange
Benedict Cumberbatch just dropped some serious hints that Doctor Strange will show up in upcoming sequel Avengers: Infinity War Marvel

Are there any Marvel Comics character not set to show up in upcoming sequel Avengers: Infinity War, superhero movie fans have been asking for quite some time now.

With Chris Pratt's Peter Quill and the rest of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and the usual suspects expected to make appearances – will there be time for any more heroes on screen? Now Benedict Cumberbatch has [not so subtly] hinted that Doctor Strange may well turn up in the eagerly-anticipated instalment too.

During an interview with Empire, the Sherlock actor was asked directly what was next for Stephen Strange on the silver screen, to which the 40-year-old jokingly answered that he'll be tasked with syncing his schedule with Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany and Robert Downey Jr.

Considering that all four of those actors will be big players in Infinity War, it seems a pretty big indicator that the Sorcerer Supreme will show up alongside the likes of Iron Man, Thor, Scarlet Witch and Vision in the near future.

But on top of that, Cumberbatch offered up an even more curious clue. "To get us all together will be quite something," he told the publication. "That's why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds."

Cumberbatch will make his debut as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on 25 October and there have already been heavy rumours that his character will show up in Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 too. With Avengers: Infinity War due for release in April 2018, it certainly seems possible that the studio is planning to maintain his presence in the franchise by having him cameo in the Thor sequel until then.

Knowing how fond Marvel are of teasing future storylines in its post-credit sequences, make sure to stick around until the screen officially fades to black after watching Doctor Strange next month. Who knows? It might actually confirm whether the character will show up in future films...
