According to a report in Deadline, season 2 will feature time jumps showing Captain Flint's past with the royal navy.

Toby Stevens, who plays Flint in the TV series, has said that the new season will "explain how he became the pirate he now is" and that fans will "get to know a lot more about him and what is motivating him to do these quite extreme things."

He also warned: "Perhaps he's a lot more complicated than you think at the end of Season 1."

On the bright side, Black Sails executive producer Jon Steinberg said that season 2 will be "bigger, louder, deeper" and that fans will get to see a "bigger world" on the show, including London. There will also be a humdinger of a season finale that Steinberg promised "won't feel like the first one".

The Black Sails premiere has a big surprise for Outlander fans as well.

Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfein, and it was announced in the new promo video that Starz will air the opening scene of the next episode of Outlander just before the premiere of the Black Sails season 2.

Heughan and Balfein play 18th century lovebirds Jamie and Claire Fraser on the show. And fans of the series will get a glance of the eagerly awaited next episode that will air on 4 April, 2015.
