GOAL: Celtic 5-1 Rangers (Armstrong)

Celtic are in heaven; Rangers are in hell.

Armstrong makes it 5-1 to the Celts, finishing with style from Tierney's cutback. What a way for the hosts to cap their victory.

Moussa Dembele was booked for celebrating his hat-trick, by the way. It's not a surprise, but it is pathetic.

GOAL: Celtic 4-1 Rangers (Dembele)

The Frenchman has done it! Moussa Dembele gets on the end of a clipped ball from Mikael Lustig and writes his own piece of history in this iconic fixture.

What a performance from the youngster - and what a day for Celtic fans!

Can Celtic find another goal? Can Rangers some how drag themselves back into? There's not much time left to make a final impression.

Now Roberts drags a shot wide from 20 yards as Celtic look to underline their dominance.

Celtic dominated before Senderos' sending off and are sure to dominate even more now. It could be a question of how many they can get.

To make matters worse, Rangers assistant manager David Weir is sent to the stands.

Red card (Senderos)

What a derby day to forget for Senderos, who picks up a second yellow for a deliberate handball. That was brainless.

Celtic Park is loving this; Rangers don't have any centre-backs on the pitch and this could get ugly for them.

Celtic make a change too, with Scott Brown getting a huge ovation as he is replaced by McGregor.

Brown was relishing his reception, you could see.

Another sub for Gers. Looks like they're switching to a back three. Time is ticking away for them, though.

Celtic Park is bathed in sunshine for the moment and the Celtic fans are loving life at the moment. The hosts are in total control and Dembele is eagerly hunting a hat-trick to cap a brilliant individual performance.

Remember, no player has scored a hat-trick in an Old Firm match since Ally McCoist in the 1983/84 League Cup Final.

Rangers have less than 25 minutes to drag themselves back into the game. Can they do it? The signs don't look good, in all honesty.

To make matters worse for Gers, Senderos goes into the book now. He is another Rangers playing who will need to be careful of picking up a second booking.

GOAL: Celtic 3-1 Rangers (Sinclair)

Sinclair nets Celtic's third - and that could be that!

Dembele bulldozes his way through the middle and finds Sinclair, who then finds the back of the net off the inside of the post.

Have Rangers got anything left now?

Bitton requires treatment after going down under a heavy challenge. He will soldier on, though.

Rangers have started this half better, clearly encouraged by their goal late in the first period, when it seemed they doomed to defeat.

They are enjoying a bit more of the game and are looking for that goal to draw them level.

Forrest's curling shot is saved after Armstrong drives through the middle and picks him out.

This game is on a knife edge at Celtic Park - but the hosts must think that if they score the next goal, they will go on to win.

McKay fires a shot wide of the goal after getting on the end of the Tavernier cross. An encouraging sign, that, for the away side as they seek an equaliser.

Another change for Gers...

Neither Celtic or Rangers have kept a clean sheet in the Scottish Premiership this season, and you can see more goals coming over the next 30-odd minutes. But for who?

A booking early in the second-half. Kolo Toure sees yellow for a foul on Garner.

Rangers have made a predictable change at the break.

Back under way in Glasgow. Celtic lead 2-1 and will be confident of sealing three points over the next 45 minutes.

Rangers got a lifeline in the last few seconds of the first period - but they'll need to offer more as an attacking threat in this second half.

Half-time: Celtic 2-1 Rangers

It was a quiet opening to the match, but it really came to life towards half-time. Celtic certainly deserve to lead, though Rangers are certainly still in the contest.

GOAL: Celtic 2-1 Rangers (Garner)

Rangers are back in the game in a matter of seconds! Unreal, this.

Miller's looping header is met by Garner on the line and Rangers have a lifeline. What a boost for the away side just before the interval.

GOAL: Celtic 2-0 Rangers (Dembele)

It's a Dembele double and this game might already be over!

Senderos plays the striker onside. He turns the Swiss defender inside and out and flicks it into the corner with the outside of his right foot. That was brilliant.

Sinclair almost fastens onto a long ball, but not quite. Brendan Rodgers will be a pleased man at the moment, though. They're 1-0 up and in control at the moment.

Niko Kranjčar is an accident waiting to happen. He commits another foul and the Rangers contingent must be fearing the worst.

In fact, I'd be surprised if Kranjčar is not subbed at the break if this continues.

Celtic almost make it two in another moving involving Dembele. Ultimately, though, the ball is hacked clear by a Rangers defender after a goalmouth scramble. Rangers are starting to wilt a bit, here.

And now Niko Kranjčar commits another foul ... this time, the ref opts to keep his card in his pocket, much to his relief.

GOAL: Celtic 1-0 Rangers (Dembele)

It's been coming! And Dembele is the man!

A corner is flung over from the left show and Dembele batters a header home off the inside of the post. Celtic Park is jumping!

Tierney chases down an over-hit cross... turns his man inside and out, but cannot find anyone in a Celtic shirt with his centre. The hosts are huffing and puffing at the moment, without blowing the house down.

Niko Kranjčar becomes the latest player to be booked. The ref explains that it's for an accumulation of fouls.

We've played half an hour, though, and we're still to see a chance to speak of.

Celtic are pretty much camped in the Rangers half for the time being. This is a very Brendan Rodgers-style performance so far, with the hosts controlling the ball for the most part.

They'll need to show more imagination and intelligence to break down this dogged-looking Rangers defence.

Joey Barton, always in the thick of the action, runs into a stray elbow from Tom Rogic. He'll be okay, though. No card, either, and the game continues.

Moments later, Forrest's shot is well blocked by Tavernier. Celtic are starting to apply some serious pressure, without opening their opponents up.

It appears Rangers are happy to sit deep and soak up pressure, looking for opportunities on the break.

A slight opening now, as Tierney cuts the ball back towards the edge of the box, where Rogic meets the pass with a first-time shot. However, he can't keep it down and Rangers survive.

Twenty minutes gone now, and after a fierce start to the match dominated by Celtic, it has become a much more even contest.

There have be no guilt-edge chances to speak of but it has been captivating stuff, set against the backdrop of a cracking atmosphere.

Barton hits a backpass to his keeper without looking but he just manages to get there. A careless moment, that, from one of the most-experienced players on show today.

Scott Brown goes on a surging run up the left side, until he is crowded out by Senderos and his mates.

Up the other end, Kranjčar's right-footed effort is ballooned over bar. Hectic stuff, this.

A cross from the left side is aimed towards Wallace, but he cannot get there in time and instead commits a foul. Rangers at least to seemed to have settled, though, after being pressed back early on.

The likes of Barton have got a foothold in the game and they have started to string some passing moves together.

Joey Barton

Rangers win their first corner of the game, but Kiernan can only head behind. That was a moment of encouragement for the away side, who have been under the cosh in the opening exchanges.

A slight fly in the ointment for the hosts now, though, as Bitton goes into the book for a cynical foul as Rangers looked to spring a counter.

The Celtic man will play the next 80-odd minutes with a yellow card next to his name.

Sinclair drifts inside from the left side and his goal-bound effort is well blocked. But Celtic are dominating the match in the opening stages, taking the fight to their eternal rivals.

Rangers, for their part, have been pinned back in their own half.

Celtic are on the front foot from the outset, so much so that Kenny Miller is having to drop deep to defend. Too many Rangers players are being caught on the ball in the opening minutes.

Celtic Park

It's intense, end-to-end stuff in the opening minutes, as you'd expect. There are boos whenever Rangers have the ball and the tackles are starting to fly in.

Celtic Park is the place to be this afternoon - it is rocking!

A typically stirring rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone is followed by the kick-off. Both teams are in their traditional colours and the atmosphere is incredible. What a game this could be.

Here we go, then. The players emerge from the tunnel and kick-off in this much-discussed, historic clash is only moments away.

Celtic Park is jam-packed now and the eyes of the football world - perhaps until the Manchester derby gets under way - are focused on Glasgow. Who will be the villain? Who will be the hero?

It may still be pretty early in the day, but Celtic Park is bouncing. This game has been away from the Scottish Premiership for far too long from a neutral's viewpoint.

The competition is certainly enhanced by this rivalry - there are few that can compare.

For Rangers, a lot of eyes will be on defender Philippe Senderos, who recently made the switch to Glasgow. He endured an up and down time in the Premier League - but his experience could prove crucial today. We'll see, I guess...

Fans have been lining up outside the ground before kick-off to get a glimpse of their heroes. Now, though, everyone is making their way inside the stadium as the players go through their last-minute preparations. We're around 30 minutes away from kick-off.

Leigh Griffiths has arrived at Celtic Park - but he'll be watching from the sidelines this afternoon. Brendan Rodgers still has plenty of attacking options besides, including Dembele.

For Rangers, on the other hand, it'll be interesting to see how the likes of Senderos and Barton perform today.

Joey Barton

Leigh Griffiths' absence is a blow for the hosts this afternoon. But given the strength of their side and their home advantage, Celtic are the clear pre-match favourites.

That's not to say Rangers won't cause a shock, though.

Breaking team news:

Celtic: De Vries, Lustig, Toure, Sviatchenko, Tierney, Bitton, Brown, Forrest, Rogic, Sinclair, Dembele.

Subs: Gordon, Ciftci, Izaguirre, Gamboa, Armstrong, Roberts, McGregor.

Rangers: Foderingham, Tavernier, Senderos, Kiernan, Wallace, Barton, Kranjcar, Windass, Garner, Miller, McKay.

Subs: Gilks, Hill, Forrester, O'Halloran, Halliday, Waghorn, Hodson.

Right, the team news will be with us in a matter of moments. Each player in their respective squad will be desperate to play a part in this fixture.

Rangers striker Kenny Miller has revealed he is confident his team can cause an upset at Celtic Park this afternoon.

Ahead of the game, he told the BBC: "We have a confidence in what the manager wants us to do,. We have just not put it together as much this season as last season.

"Whether that's the increased level of opposition, or whether that's trying to bed in new signings, we have turned over 20 players in the last two summers."

He added: "We appreciate we will have to tighten up in the back area, they have players that can hurt us. But if we can do that then we are more than confident we can get the right result."

Ahead of today's much-anticipated clash, Rodgers has cut a surprisingly relaxed figure and has tried to play down the expectations that surround his club.

"We are not running away to say that we don't want to be the favourites for the game," he said. "Whether we were playing Rangers, Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Hearts, whoever we play at home, the objective going into the game is to win.

"It's a huge game, a big game, but one that we want to win, like every game at Celtic Park.

"More importantly, the way the team is playing, the energy and ambition of the team has given the supporters something to be proud of so far and the atmosphere will be incredible. Every derby is different.

"Having experienced derbies before there is a uniqueness to each one and this is iconic throughout the world. I am really looking forward to it."

Today is, of course, a huge moment for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who is looking to rebuild his reputation in Glasgow after things fell apart at Liverpool.

He has already experienced derby games in England but this promises to be something else entirely.

As we wait for the team news to trickle through, it's probably worth flagging up a few potential issues...

  • Leigh Griffiths is a doubt with a hamstring injury.
  • Left-back Kieran Tierney should be fit for the game.
  • Rangers skipper Lee Wallace is fit, while Danny Wilson should overcome a calf strain.
  • Philippe Senderos could make his debut.

Good morning and welcome to IBTimes UK's coverage of one of the most-discussed derbies in world football, Celtic vs Rangers.

These two great rivals have largely been kept apart over recent years - but with Rangers' return to the top-flight, the battle can recommence in earnest.
