Chappell Roan's Security Revealed as Kim Kardashian's Ex-Bodyguard Who Left Her During Paris Robbery
Pascal Duvier was previously sued by Kim Kardashian's insurer for leaving the reality star alone during the 'traumatic' £7.8 million Paris robbery.
The security guard in the Chappell Roan's hotel incident that left a young fan in tears has been identified as Pascal Duvier, the same bodyguard who was working for Kim Kardashian when she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris in 2016, sources tell multiple outlets.
The news came after a video posted by former footballer Jorginho Frello went viral, showing his daughter in tears following an aggressive confrontation with Roan's guard at a luxury São Paulo hotel.
According to Jorginho's account, his 11‑year‑old stepdaughter recognised Roan while having breakfast and smiled as she walked past. She did not speak to the singer. The situation escalated when, he said, a security guard approached them with a harsh reprimand.
Duvier in the Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery
Now, the guard involved—identified as Pascal Duvier, 53—once protected Kardashian.
According to The Sun, Duvier was part of the reality star's security detail during the famous 2016 Paris robbery, widely described as one of the most dramatic celebrity thefts of the decade. At the time, Kardashian was held at gunpoint in her hotel suite as thieves made off with an estimated $£7.8 million (10 million) worth of jewels, including a striking 18.88‑carat diamond ring.
During Paris Fashion Week in October 2016, Duvier accompanied Kim's sisters Kourtney and Kendall to a nightclub, leaving Kim alone in her luxury apartment. That night, a gang of armed robbers broke in and stole said jewelry, including her engagement ring.
Kardashian later testified that she feared for her life. Her insurance company, which sought compensation for the $£7.8 million (10 million) in jewellery stolen during the Paris robbery, sued Duvier.
The Sun previously reported that his attorney maintained he followed protocol and remained on good terms with the Kardashian family. However, the insurance claim was separate from any personal grievance Kim might have had.
The lawsuit was eventually settled in 2020 for £4.7 million ($6.1 million).
Chappell Roan's Alleged Security Guard
That experience has now resurfaced in the Chappell Roan incident at São Paulo.
According to reports, sources said Duvier confronted the young girl and her mother, Catherine Harding, at the Palácio Tangará hotel, where both families were staying ahead of the Lollapalooza Brazil festival. Jorginho described how his stepdaughter, Ada, had made a fan sign and was excited to see Roan; moments later, he said, the guard approached 'in an extremely aggressive manner,' telling them they had disrespected someone.
Catherine Harding posted about the incident on social media, expressing shock that a child could be scolded for simply recognsing an artist. The family plans to attend Roan's festival performance, but the mood was soured by the encounter, she said, adding that the altercation 'ruined' what was meant to be a birthday treat for Ada.
Roan later addressed the episode on Instagram, lying in bed and emphasising that the guard was 'not my personal security... I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child. I did not.'
She described feeling saddened that someone assumed bad intentions. 'It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe it,' she said, adding, 'I do not hate people who are fans of my music, I do not hate children.'
In response, Harding reiterated that while she hoped Roan had not sent the guard, as a public figure, the singer bore responsibility for those acting on her behalf. 'If he does, that's a big problem... because then he's representing her in a way she doesn't want to be represented.'
Chappell Roan Left With Consequences
Roan was banned from performing at the Todo Mundo no Rio festival by the city's mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, who said in a statement that as long as he led the city, she would not be welcome following the incident.
He also extended an olive branch to Ada by offering her status as a 'guest of honour' at the event in May.
Harding told reporters she believed the situation could be resolved if Roan clarified the role her guard played.
