Football ace David Beckham is reportedly preparing to make his small-screen debut as a BBC 1 TV host.
According to the channel's controller Charlotte Moore, the former England captain is trying to parlay his sports success into a lucrative showbiz career in the wake of his retirement.
"I'm looking for BBC1 to do the programmes which other broadcasters have not," she told the Sunday Times.
Although show bosses have kept tight-lipped about the details of the programme, it is thought that it will not focus on fatherhood or fashion rather than football.
Earlier this month the 38-year-old star was given a taste of what is to come when he made a cameo on the channel's classic comedy Only Fools and Horse as part of a Comic Relief sketch.
