Ella Langley Candidly Admits Billboard Success Feels Fake and Recalls Surviving on Tip Jar Money
The country singer reflected on her rise from playing local bars and weddings to topping the Billboard Hot 100 with her hit single

Ella Langley's recent success in the music industry drew the attention of critics, but she won't take the jabs lying down.
The up-and-coming country singer sent her response to haters who have been nitpicking her looks and deeds as she continues to gain incredible amounts of exposure. Even so, Langley has been struggling to process her success as real and tangible.
The backlash directed towards Langley came after her 'Choosin' Texas' single surpassed Mariah Carey's Billboard Hot 100 record for the longest-running number-one song.
Langley Addresses Her Haters by Recalling Her Path to Success
Langley addressed the hate she had to deal with during her concert in Columbus, Ohio. While speaking to her fans on stage, she said she has heard many hurtful things about herself and different aspects of her life from various sources.
'I don't think I've ever had more opinions on myself in my life than I have in this last year,' she noted, adding that she had been criticised 'the way I look, the way I speak, the way I dress, the way I move, the way I sing [and] the way I write.'
The country singer was initially 'bothered' by the negativity, which began to weigh on her as she continued her career.
'I was like, 'What am I going to do about this? If this is what I'm signing up to do, I don't know about this. I signed up to sing music, and I love to do what I do, but if this is what it's going to be the whole entire time, I mean sh*t, I don't know if I'm strong enough for this,' she told her audience.
Langley had paved her way for success in the industry, but the road was rocky to get to where she is now. Raised in Hope Hull, Alabama, the country singer taught herself guitar and played at local bars and weddings.
'The girl that they're kind of picking on is the girl that got me where I'm sitting here today.' Langley opened up to her fans about how she got here at the concert. 'That's the girl that rode in a 15-passenger van night after night after night. She rode in a Honda Accord night after night after night, chased her dream, living on bar food, living on tip-jar money.'
Langley ended her speech by saying she was 'proud of that girl that everybody seems to be picking on all the time.'
The Success of Langley's Single 'Choosin' Texas' Feels 'Fake' to Her
Langley's single 'Choosin' Texas' gave her a career high, dethroning Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You', which spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
The 27-year-old singer shared her reaction to the news in an Instagram video, saying that she was genuinely shocked. 'I'm genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what's going on in my brain today,' she said in utter disbelief.
She explained that the achievement 'feels like a real thing,' and that 'it feels fake,' and more like a prank.
According to The Boot, Langley had previously shared that she suffered from impostor syndrome, leading her to feel unsatisfactory despite her accomplishments.
She also dealt with mental health issues stemming from her rise in notoriety within the music industry. However, in an interview with Country Countdown USA, she admitted, 'It's really cool to be me right now.'
