Northern Ireland has gotten off to a difficult start in its Euro cup qualifying game against Estonia.

The Northern Irish began well, dominating possession in the first few minutes of the game. The Estonians at first appeared to be outclassed, being reduced at one point to making a fanciful penalty appeal.

The ball continued to be at the feet of the Northern Irish, with David Healy getting off a good shot at the Estonians, but to no avail.

Grant McCann also made an effort with a free kick from 25 yards out, only to smash it into a wall. The attempt came shortly after an impressive, but fruitless, breakout attack.

Having impressed in the early stages, disaster struck for Northern Ireland when Martin Vunk took Estonia 1-0 up with a shot into the corner of the goal.

Just minutes later Estonia struck again, with Tarmo Vink nutmegging Lee Camp. 2-0 to Estonia.

Hubris soon set in however as Estonia managed to score a third goal, this time however it was Raio Piiroja, who managed to head the ball into his own goal. 2-1 and game very much on as the half time whistle blew.
