Facebook launches immersive full-screen Canvas ads on mobiles
Facebook incorporates Canvas ads into its News Feeds on mobile app Facebook

Facebook has launched Canvas adverts – a full-screen ad experience that enhances brands and products on smartphones – via its mobile app. The latest feature expands on the Carousel ads and allows users to sift through numerous brands and products.

Facebook's head of creative technology, Chris Jones, said in a company post, "We made the creative community a priority when we designed and built Canvas. It's a product that represents our commitment to creative craft and delivering the best mobile experience for businesses and people."

Canvas ads load much faster than existing media marketing initiatives that open up a separate window to feature ads and generally take more time to load on mobile devices. Canvas instead is directly linked to News Feeds, which successfully eliminates the slow-uploading ads quotient. Now Canvas ads will appear directly within the social media giant's mobile app, on both iOS and Android.

Canvas is highly interactive and has been developed for businesses to can create scrollable videos, catalogues and animation that will appear full-screen on a user's mobile. The social media giant is now working on expanding Canvas ads to other apps such as Instagram.

Brands can use Facebook's self-serve tool, which allows them to create content with ease. Businesses will be charged a similar price as that of other News Feed ads. With a simple drag and drop of images, GIFs and videos one can upload and showcase ads.
