A Missouri mother has sparked a major police investigation after discovering the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl taped inside a Barbie doll box purchased for her children.

The Independence Police Department confirmed on 21 March that five compromised toy packages were identified at Cargo Largo, a local discount retailer.

While the dolls themselves were not contaminated, the powder had been taped to the interior of the cardboard backing.
