Gavin Casalegno Reflects on 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 Finale, Jeremiah's Growth, and Spin-Off Hopes
Gavin Casalegno says Jeremiah's journey ends on a "happy button" in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 finale—but could a spin-off or fourth season still happen?

The Summer I Turned Pretty is wrapping up its long-anticipated third season available on Prime Video come 16 July 2025. Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah Fisher, has spoken out about the finale's emotional resolution. However, fans have been wondering, is this really the final season?
Casalegno, in turn, has given his thoughts on the series' assumed conclusion, noting that it ends nicely. Fans will better recognize him for his portrayal of Jeremiah Fisher, a pivotal, magnetic character in the series. Here's what we have on Season 3's ending and the possibilities for its continuation.
The Finale is a 'Happy Button' for Jeremiah
In a recent interview, Casalegno had this to say: 'It was fun, especially on my side of things, seeing how much the character grew throughout the season and how you could really see the maturity in the decisions towards the end of the series. So the final scenes were kind of a nice, happy button for Jeremiah—at least, I hope that people watching feel that way.'
This was said with hopes that it would resonate with fans as the series bows out. Notably, he praised how much his character developed down the line. The finale is suggested to be rewarding for those invested in his story.
However, Christopher Briney, who plays Conrad Fisher, said wrapping up was 'bittersweet.' He expressed his train of thought throughout filming, saying 'I just treated every season like "Hopefully we get another one."'
He then said it was nice to finish the trilogy, to cap the story that they signed up for. The same sentiment was shared by author and co-showrunner Jenny Han, who felt like the end was very satisfying.
How 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Influenced Gavin Casalegno's Marriage
The series has impacted Gavin Casalegno even outside of the screen. He shared that his marriage has been influenced by Jeremiah and Belly's love.
Gavin said that 'Ultimately, I think communication is key,' reflecting on his relationship with his wife. He admitted that while it was cliché, it's hard to understand the level of communication that's needed.
The fame garnered from the show has also influenced how he values his privacy. He learned that 'once it's out there, there's no taking it back.' This pushes him to 'keep things close to the chest' about personal things.
For example, he didn't make any fuss about his relationship until he married Cheyanne. Fans only found out about it through an affectionate Instagram post.
Bittersweet Goodbye Or More From Cousins Beach?
Despite the imminent, supposed 'emotional closure' the series is set to bring, fans aren't convinced that the series will be shelved. A Reddit post argues that while Season 3 is based on the final novel, the finale leaves untold stories. This includes rectifying the plot between Belly and Conrad.
There's also the possibility of a spin-off that focuses on Jeremiah, suggesting another look at Cousins Beach. It's a realistic next step that should explore the characters more.
This isn't an alien concept, as How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast) from Netflix has opted for a spin-off for a beloved character with a standalone movie. In regards with more from the original show, they've recently released Season 4 which deviated from the original source material.
