Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update, weighing in at 91.12MB, for its Tizen-powered Gear S2 smartwatch. Upon installing the update you should see the new software version of the device as R720XXU2BPA4. An update is also available for the Gear app.

The update brings a bunch of new apps such as World Clock, ESPN and News Briefing, and new watch faces. Besides, you would see search function in the Contacts app. It adds new Screen time out settings, which can be found under Settings>> Display>> Screen timeout.

If you have missed a notification, there is an unread notification indicator on the watch face. You would be notified with an alert in case your Bluetooth connection is disconnected. You can now enter emojis directly using the keyboard. Some changes might vary depending on the region. Apart from these changes, the update brings performance improvements and addresses bug issues in the Gear S2 smartwatch.

To install the firmware, launch the Samsung Gear app. You can also manually fetch the update from Settings>> About Gear>> Update Gear software and then tap on Update now. Users are advised to create a backup of the data before performing an installation to avoid any unexpected data loss. Also, after the installation, the Gear settings might revert to defaults and to apply the changes it needs to be reconfigured.
