George Clooney's arrest for civil disobedience during a protest outside Sudan's embassy in Washington DC is not the first time superstars have got in trouble with the law for demonstrating.

The actor was taking part in a protest alongside his father, Nick, Virginia congressman Jim Moran and civil rights leader Ben Jealous who were campaigning against the killing of Sudanese people by their own government.

Clooney, a keen activist, and the group were warned three times not to cross a police line as they gathered outside the embassy before they were arrested.

George Clooney is a keen Sudan activist and has made a number of trips to the Sudan.
