Athlete to watch

David Rudisha: The most dominant track athlete in the world takes centre stage in Glasgow in the men's 800m final. The Kenyan broke the world record at London 2012 and will hope to add Commonwealth gold to his world and Olympic titles. The remaining competitors will merely make up the numbers against the 25 year old, who could once again go close to the one minute 40 seconds mark. Here's hoping.

Event to watch

Men's Pommel Horse Final: After claiming a second gold in the all-around final, Max Whitlock is back searching for a third title in Glasgow but faces competition from the man returning to British athletics. Louis Smith has already played a role in winning team gold and in his specialist event is the leading contender for gold. Scotland's Daniel Keatings, who already has two silver medals at the Games, is also is contention.

Emma Pooley competes for the penultimate time in major competition in the women's road time trial alongside Joanna Rowsell, Adam Gemili goes for another sprint medal in the men's 200m, England men's hockey team face Canada for a place in the semi-final and England square off against Scotland for bronze in the Open Triples lawn bowls
