Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins is pregnant with her first child.

The 39-year-old presenter broke her baby news live on air after discussing a story about a mother whose stomach grew to an impressive 139cm during her pregnancy.

She exclaimed: "I'm pregnant, I'm happy to announce, expecting a baby and that kind of story fills me with dread!

"I'm hoping I won't reach that record."

In response to the unscripted announcement, Susanna Reid, Hawkins' co-host and mother-of-three, quipped: "Who would have thought that working on Good Morning Britain could be so productive!"

Within minutes, the star, who has been married to husband Mark Herbert since 2008, was inundated with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities.

Carol Vorderman said: "Huge congratulations to the very lovely @CharlotteHawkns Having first baby... Enjoy the peace while you can! Sending love and earplugs x."

This Morning's Eamonn Holmes tweeted: "Get you , you've been busy ...... hope you have that extension finished in time ! Much love and congrats x (sic)."

Hawkins later tweeted a snap of herself on the ITV set wearing an electric blue dress with her hands on her stomach.
